After several re-works to my processes/workflow, I'm having to put Steampunkd Faery Tales on hold until I can refine my process so that it is productive. That and I could see it becoming very episodic which would require more time than I want to invest in it right now. And Daz wanted to charge me for using their 3d meshes if I decided to 3dprint and sell my characters. The major change and revamp comes from learning to do everything from scratch. Before I was relying on Daz Studio which works well enough but it doesn't allow for the versatility that I need for the characters and environment. I have purchased zbrush and I'm currently working on a generic female base-mesh to use for all the characters that allows for possible animation in the future. The upside to this will be that I own all my work. The down side is that its a bit slow going without a set work schedule due to the kids. So please bare with me. I will be posting my zbrush work here as I build everything from scratch. You will get to see it all come together in time. The story I'm working on now is also a fairy tale mashup. Sort of a Fairy Tales meet Wheel of Time and Lord of the Rings. It's big. Seven to ten books big. The first is Hood of Red: An Aesodian Tale. I don't want to give too much away right now but once I have the character rendered out then I will post the story. and page roughs. Thanks for watching and check back to see what is going on.

For those not in the know; I am Daniel Powell, a freelance graphic artist, husband, and stay at home dad of two sons. I am currently involved in a huge project trying to get a book out by next march. Plenty of time you say. Well.....when you factor in that I need to have a kickstarter-campaign up by December. I'm down to eight months. That doesn't even include the diaper changes, cleaning spaghetti out of the carpet, or trying to keep my one and a half year old son from sticking something in the electrical outlet. so If this ride sounds interesting enough why don't you stick around and see how this all pans out. It ought to be one crazy Steampunk adventure.

So a quick idea on what the book looks like. I am blending an art book with a storybook. So story on left page and full page, highly detailed image on the right page. The break down on art for the book will be around 28 full page illustrations so the book itself will be around 60 pages. I'm using high resolution 3d-renders for detail and then compositing the images in photoshop and handling my line work and image/color manipulation there. Once finished it will all be packed away in InDesign and then off to a printer as long as kickstarter takes off. No pressure. :) (Smile)

I will be uploading new art every weekend so stay tuned.
